FC UNITED closed the gap on UniBond League Division One North leaders Skelmersdale as they hosted lowly Chorley at Gigg Lane.
The reds are now eight points adrift with four games in hand on the front-runners after a comfortable 3-0 win over the Lancastrians thanks to goals from Rory Patterson and Stuart Rudd.
It meant they continued where they left off after scoring a last-minute winner in a 2-1 success at second from bottom Woodley Sports on Bank Holiday Monday.
Rudd netted with a Mark Hughes style volley to secure three vital points and end his recent goal drought.
But FC were held to a 2-2 draw by spirited basement club Radcliffe Borough on Saturday. Their scorers in the Gigg Lane clash were Josh Howard and Simon Carden.
United entertain mid-table Lancaster City this Saturday, March 29, kick-off 3pm.
