Stars are pulling in the votes OUR competition to find the M.E.N. Sport-Boddingtons Player of the Season has really captured your imagination.

We have been inundated with entries from readers nominating their favourite. Our soccer experts have had their say, with Paul Hince selecting Kevin Davies at Bolton, Chris Bailey opting for City’s Andy Cole, Stuart Mathieson selecting United’s Wayne Rooney (pictured), Neil Barker choosing Wigan’s Leighton Baines and Stuart Brennan going for Wanderers’ Ricardo Gardner.

Away from the Premiership, our reporters selected Ritchie Wellens at Oldham, Danny Whittaker at Macclesfield, Ricky Lambert at Rochdale, Ashley Williams of Stockport and Dave Flitcroft at Bury. We haven’t forgotten the non-League scene, with Tony Glennon choosing Ian Craney from newly-promoted Accrington Stanley as his top player.

Remember, though, we want your nominations – explaining your selection in no more than 50 words – which will go before a panel of pundits. If your choice is the winner, you will go into a draw, from which one lucky reader will win a year’s supply of Boddingtons.

Anyone under 16 entering will get of entries to present the trophy to the best young player chosen by the panel and spend a week with the M.E.N. Sport team.
