FC UNITED manager Karl Marginson believes his side can strike a psychological blow in the race for the title when they face Skelmersdale tonight.
The Rebels trail the Unibond First Division North leaders by eight points but have four games in hand.
Victory tonight would see them gain yet more ground on their rivals after a cruel late equaliser against Lancaster brought a draw at the weekend.
Marginson believes it would give FC the mental edge as the season reaches its finale.
He said: "It's a good chance to send out a message and a victory against the league leaders would give us some kind of psychological advantage."
