TOP scorer Rory Patterson believes FC United's clash with Bradford Park Avenue tonight is their most important game of the season.
United's hopes of achieving automatic promotion to the premier division are on the brink of collapse following a run of four matches without victory, the latest Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Warrington.
The Rebels are now 11 points off first division leaders Curzon Ashton, and despite having two games in hand, Patterson feels another setback against fellow promotion chasers Bradford, will mean having to focus on getting promotion through the play-offs.
"This match is a must-win for us." said Patterson. "Bradford have beaten us twice this season so we're desperate to get one back on them."
Patterson has got 36 goals and is on course to overtake the 39 he got last campaign. The 23-year-old Derry-born striker has, however, his sights set much higher.
"I want to get as close to 50 as possible," he said.
