A boost for the Tynesiders is the news that Steve Salvin and Wayne Phillips, who both missed the game at Buxton, return to a full-strength squad.
After claiming 19 points from their last seven games, Newcastle Blue Star are confident they will attract the biggest crowd of the season for today’s UniBond League Division One North game against FC United of Manchester. The visitors are challenging for a play-off place and have by far the best home attendance record. They regularly take more than 1,000 fans to away games and Blue Star are looking for a crowd in excess of 1,500.
Director of football Bob Morton said: “It should be a cracking match. We played really well holding another of the promotion candidates Bradford Park Avenue to a draw on Thursday night and Manchester need the points to be in the promotion shake-up.”
Manchester, unbeaten for several months, will prove tough opponents.
But the Tynesiders are confident despite the fact this will be their fourth game in eight days.
