FC United on their way up

FC UNITED confirmed the first promotion of their short history by recording a 4-0 win over Chadderton at Gigg Lane. Founded only last summer in defiance of Malcolm Glazer’s takeover of Manchester United, FC United have taken the Moore & Co Construction Solicitors North West Counties League second division by storm.

Last night’s win was their 25th in 33 league outings, in which they have scored 106 goals, and, while the title is not yet guaranteed, it is only a matter of time. A crowd of 2,788 watched the victory but Karl Marginson, the FC United manager, was not able to play a full part in the celebrations because he was due to start his usual grocery rounds at 4am.
